SureForms 2.12.9: Abandoned Form Reminders, One-Click MCP Installation, and Clearer Notification Warnings

Not every visitor who starts a form finishes it. Life gets in the way, and the form gets forgotten. And when an email notification fails on a form that does not save entries, you can end up with no copy of the submission at all.

SureForms 2.12.9 helps with both. Visitors can now get a reminder with a link to finish a form they started, and SureForms shows clearer warnings when notifications fail. This release also adds one-click MCP Adapter setup, more control over partial-entry resume links, and 11 fixes.

In this release

  • Abandoned form reminders: opted-in visitors get an email with a link to finish the form
  • One-click MCP Adapter installation and activation
  • A warning in Form Checks for forms that do not save entries
  • Notification failure details in Entry Logs and Form Checks
  • No more fallback to PHP’s built-in mail function for failed notifications
  • Partial-entry resume links now expire and can be revoked (Pro)

Help visitors finish a form they started

When a visitor starts filling out a form but does not finish, SureForms can now send them a reminder email. The email includes a link to finish the form.

Visitors stay in control. They only receive the reminder if they tick the permission checkbox beside the form’s email field, and they must also pass the form’s CAPTCHA. The reminder is sent after a period of inactivity, not the moment they leave.

Where this helps

A quote request form. A customer starts describing their project, then gets pulled away. The reminder puts a link back to the form in their inbox.

A job application. A candidate begins an application and stops partway. The reminder gives them a link to come back and finish.

A services or contact form. A visitor enters their name and email, then closes the tab. The reminder gives them an easy way back to the form.

Looking for a notification for yourself? Since 2.12.3, SureForms can email you when a visitor saves a partial entry. The 2.12.9 reminder is different: it goes to the visitor.

Clearer warnings for forms that do not save entries

entry logs failed notification full

When a form does not save entries, a failed email notification can leave you without a saved copy of the submission.

SureForms now shows a warning for this in Form Checks on your SureForms dashboard. You will see it the next time you open the dashboard, which makes the problem easier to spot and investigate.

See why a notification failed

form checks lost submission

Notification failure details now appear in Entry Logs and Form Checks, so you have more to go on when you investigate what went wrong.

Failed notifications also no longer fall back to PHP’s built-in mail function. That fallback skipped your site’s mail plugin and could fail without a trace. Developers who want the old behaviour back can use the srfm_allow_php_mail_fallback filter.

Install the MCP Adapter in one click

The MCP Adapter connects AI tools to SureForms. Setting it up is now easier: you can install and activate it in one click, without leaving SureForms.

More control over partial-entry resume links (Pro)

Resume links created from partial entries now expire and can be revoked.

Important: Resume links created from partial entries before this update no longer work. If you have shared any of these links, they will stop working once you update.

Fixed in 2.12.9

Free

  • Checkbox fields: Unchecked Checkbox fields now appear correctly in entries and email notifications.
  • Submit button during redirects: Fixed an issue where the button became active again before the redirect completed, allowing duplicate submissions.
  • Duplicated Multiple Choice blocks: Deleting an option from a duplicated block no longer affects the original.
  • Form accessibility: Added a missing ARIA reference to the error message to address an accessibility scan issue.

Pro

  • ActiveCampaign custom fields: Mapped custom field values are now sent correctly.
  • Repeater CSV exports: Values of zero are now included correctly in exports.
  • Resend Notification status: Failed resends now report a failure instead of showing a success message.
  • PayPal buttons in embedded forms: Fixed buttons not working when forms were embedded in page builders, theme templates, and synced patterns.
  • Save & Resume database compatibility: Fixed an issue where subsequent saves failed on hosts that run MySQL in NO_AUTO_VALUE_ON_ZERO mode.
  • Save & Resume emails: Fixed issues where emails bypassed mail plugins or were sent twice.
  • Multi-step form progress indicators: Progress lines now connect the centres of the step indicators correctly.
